SOUTH AFRICAN POLICE SERVICE is looking for food service aid in the division of human resources development. The center of this position is SAPS Academy, Hammanskraal.

REQUIREMENTS FOR FOOD SERVICE AID

The following are the general minimum criteria for the positions: Applicants must demonstrate expertise in the fundamental tasks of the position; Be able to communicate in at least two official languages, one of which must be English; Be a citizen of South Africa; There must be no prior criminal or departmental convictions or outstanding criminal/departmental charges; Applicants will go through a vetting procedure that includes a security check and fingerprint verification.

Additional Requirements: A Grade 10 certificate will be advantageous; Skills in basic reading, numeracy, and communication; Ability to read and write a basic understanding of how to operate machinery and equipment; When required, willing to work longer hours.

DUTIES

Prepare and serve refreshments; provide food service assistance; prepare meals and clean equipment; prepare dining halls; maintain a clean and sanitary working environment Perform general administrative duties in the catering industry.

Along with the application form, you must provide a detailed curriculum vitae. Copies of an applicant’s identification, all educational credentials, service certificates from prior employers identifying the profession, evidence of relevant experience in the area of the job, and a driver’s license are all required. The qualifications and driver’s licenses that are provided will be verified by the appropriate institutions. The South African Police Service will examine applicants’ addresses and perform background checks.

Appointments shall be made in accordance with the Public Service Act of 1994, as it applies to the position. If a candidate is chosen for further consideration, he or she will be subjected to a personal interview as well as a practical examination. All candidates who have been shortlisted will have their references checked. The Criminal Law (Sexual Offenses and Related Matters) Amendment Act, 2007 (Act No 32 of 2007) and the Children’s Act, 2005 will be used to assess short-listed applicants for appointment to specific defined jobs (Act No 38 of 2005). An applicant whose information appears in the National Register for Sexual Offenders or Part B of the Child Protection Register is ineligible for the position. Fingerprinting will be performed on all short-listed applicants.
