Requirements

Grade 10 / ABET level 4 are the minimum requirements. Being able to count (Basic arithmetic). A minimum of twelve (12) months of experience in a formal clinical or hospital setting is required. Experience working as a laundry help at a hospital would be a plus. Attach a current stamped motivation from your boss, as well as a school report for the most recent grade you passed.

Batho Pele Principles, Occupational Health and Safety, Infection Prevention and Control Solid understanding of linens, washing equipment, machinery, and detergents. Willing to work a variety of shifts, including weekend, public holiday, and night hours. Ability to operate in a group and under duress. Communication abilities, interpersonal relationship skills, time management, and excellent customer service are all required.

Responsibilities and Duties

Clean linen is provided to both clinical and non-clinical departments of the hospital. On a daily basis, dirty linen is collected from clinical and non-clinical areas, sorted, counted, sluiced, washed, dried, folded, packed, and delivered. In the linen shop, pack the linens appropriately.

Take part in the yearly and bi-annual stocktakes. Willingness to work longer hours and go above and beyond when necessary. Follow the laundry service’s rules and prescriptions. Follow any further directions given by the Supervisor. Individually or in a group, deal with the physical demands of the job.
