About Ivanplats

Ivanplats (Pty) Ltd, part of Ivanhoe Mines, is developing the world-class Platreef Mine near Mokopane in Limpopo Province. The mine is designed as a modern, highly mechanised underground operation that uses cutting-edge mining technology and aims to become a true “mine of the future.”

The Artisan Learnership Programme is designed to develop skilled artisans who will contribute to the mine’s long-term operational success.

Available Artisan Learnership Disciplines

Successful applicants will receive training in one of the following trades:

  • Auto Electrician
  • Boilermaker
  • Diesel Mechanic
  • Fitter & Turner
  • Instrumentation
  • Mechanical Fitter
  • Millwright
  • Rigger

Learnership Duration

The programme will run for:

  • Up to 3 years, or
  • Until the learner successfully obtains a recognised trade qualification, whichever comes first.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Grade 12 (Matric)
  • Mathematics with a minimum of 60%
  • Physical Science with a minimum of 60%
  • N2 qualification in an Engineering field
  • South African Citizen or Permanent Resident

Additional Requirements

Candidates must be willing to:

  • Work underground and on surface operations
  • Work in mining environments
  • Undergo a medical fitness examination
  • Complete the required capability assessments
