Econofoods General Assistant – Butchery – GenAsstCPT.FestivNov 2026

Econofoods General Assistant – Butchery opportunity

Econofoods is recruiting two General Assistants for its Cape Town butchery operation. This is a temporary festive-season contract ending on 31 December 2026. Applications close on 15 November 2026. Use reference GenAsstCPT.FestivNov 2026 when checking that you have opened the correct vacancy.

Who should apply

You need Grade 12, fluent spoken and written English, and proven experience in a butchery environment. The employer does not specify a minimum number of years, but experience is an explicit requirement. You should also be organised, reliable, self-motivated, able to take initiative and comfortable working with others.

When preparing your CV, make your relevant experience easy to assess. Identify the butchery or meat-processing workplaces where you worked, give your employment dates and describe the tasks you actually performed. If you helped with receiving, packing or cleaning, explain your own responsibilities rather than copying a list of duties from the advertisement. Do not add experience or qualifications that you cannot support.

What the work involves

The role supports the daily running of the meat-processing facility. Duties cover receiving and off-loading stock, pre-packing, merchandising, cleaning, counting and reporting. You will also contribute to teamwork, housekeeping and workplace safety standards.

Before applying, consider whether the temporary arrangement fits your availability. A festive contract should not be treated as a promise of permanent employment. Think about the practical arrangements you would need to attend work in Cape Town, and record your actual availability accurately when completing the form.

How to apply

Open the official Econofoods vacancy and select Apply. The application form identifies this role and reference before asking for your details. It requests contact and personal information, your notice period, a CV and qualifications. The displayed maximum file size is 4MB for each upload. A photograph is optional.

Prepare readable files before starting. Check that every page is upright, complete and clear enough to read; use filenames that help you identify the correct document. Enter an email address and telephone number you can access, and check them for typing errors. Read the platform’s privacy and application terms before answering its consent questions.

Review your completed information before submitting, and retain any confirmation the employer’s system provides. Opening the advert or uploading a document is not, by itself, proof that an application was submitted. Apply before the deadline rather than leaving submission until the final day.
