Chris Hani District Municipality is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates residing within the district for 300 Security Guard positions under the Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP). Successful applicants will be appointed on a six-month contract and receive a monthly stipend.

- Emalahleni Local Municipality: 60 Posts
- Vuyisile Mini Local Municipality: 26 Posts
- Sakhisizwe Local Municipality: 18 Posts
- Dr A.B. Xuma Local Municipality: 35 Posts
- Enoch Mgijima Local Municipality: 86 Posts
- Inxuba Yethemba Local Municipality: 75 Posts
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Grade 9 qualification
- Security Guard Qualification/Certificate (Grade D) recognised by the security industry authority
- Valid PSIRA Certificate
- Police Clearance Certificate
- Proof of medical fitness from a registered medical practitioner
- Proof of residence from a Ward Councillor
- 12 to 18 months of relevant experience in:
- Security services
- South African Police Service (SAPS)
- Military or related security environment
Key Responsibilities
Successful candidates will be responsible for:
Security and Asset Protection
- Safeguarding municipal buildings and infrastructure
- Protecting water service facilities, including:
- Pump stations
- Reservoirs
- Sewerage pump stations
- Dams
- Revenue collection centres
- Securing physical, mechanical, electronic, and other municipal assets
Access Control
- Controlling entry and exit of employees, visitors, councillors, and delegations
- Conducting vehicle searches upon arrival and departure
- Monitoring movement of people within municipal premises
- Applying municipal security protocols and procedures
Monitoring and Reporting
- Updating occurrence books and security registers
- Recording incoming and outgoing equipment and assets
- Reporting incidents, threats, and suspicious activities
- Monitoring risks to municipal employees, councillors, visitors, and property
Public Assistance
- Assisting members of the public
- Directing visitors to relevant offices
- Managing queues and access points
