PROVINCIAL ADMINISTRATION: GAUTENG DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH is looking for a candidate to apply for Food Service Aid positions. The position is in the directorate of human nutrition. The successful candidate will get paid the salary of R104 073 per annum, (plus benefits).
CENTRE: Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital.
REQUIREMENTS
A minimum of an ABET certificate or a grade 10 certificate or an equivalent certification is required. Knowledge: of a restricted range of working procedures in the Food Service industry, as well as basic responsibilities such as equipment, health and safety precautions, and planning and organizing. Skills. Basic numeracy, reading, decent communication skills, the capacity to do everyday activities, and basic interpersonal connection skills are all essential. Be willing to work under duress and as part of a team. Prepare to work shifts and rotate. Be ready to put in some hard work. Employees are required to wear protective clothes by law. As a bonus, you’ll get the following: 12th grade. Knowledge of food and how to prepare it is required. (Experience in food preparation and nutrition understanding gained in a hospital setting). Batho Pele Principles are well-known. Be willing to work in high-stress situations.
DUTIES
At the hospital, to get orientation training in the Cook freeze meal system. Packing frozen plated dinners and delivering food to the ward kitchens in cartons. Salads and snacks are prepared in the Main kitchen, Diet kitchen, and/or fluid diets and feeds are prepared in the Tube Feed section. In ward kitchens, they might also be asked to cook soup and porridges and arrange trolleys, as well as pack and reheat frozen meals in the ovens. Assist with the serving of meals and drinks to patients. After lunch service, collect trolleys and dishes from the wards and wash the dishes. To carry out normal tasks related to the operation of all food service equipment. Heavy food baskets must be lifted, and trolleys and tea carts must be pushed. Taking charge of food supply and reporting losses and waste. Using the Hygiene and Safety Manual and scheduled work schedules to implement hygiene and safety procedures in the work environment. Where appropriate, interact and communicate with coworkers, supervisors, managers, patients, and hospital personnel. When needed, be ready to relieve yourself in any part of the food service unit. Be willing to participate in ongoing training and development programs, as well as performance evaluations.
